VinFast Opens India’s Largest EV Showroom in Chennai – EV Game Gets Serious

Vietnam’s EV giant VinFast has officially made its grand entry into the Indian retail space.

Opening its largest showroom in the country right in the heart of Chennai. Located in Teynampet, this 4,700 sq. ft. flagship experience centre sets the tone for VinFast’s long-term EV plans in India. This is its second showroom in India, first being the Surat, Gujrat. But the Chennai outlet is different, it is designed to be an immersive brand experience that not just a space to look at cars.

Why Chennai First?

Chennai was not a random choice however with its rich automotive industry background along-with availability of a skilled workforce and fast-growing EV ecosystem. VinFast found Chennai a perfect launchpad. The showroom is managed by Maansarovar Motors, a trusted dealer in the region.

“Chennai is not just a city on our map – it’s a strategic anchor,” said Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia. “This showroom is a symbol of our commitment to Indian customers.”

What is Inside the Experience Centre?

Chennai showroom goes beyond the basics – you’ll find:

– Lounge-style areas for a relaxed customer experience.

– Touchscreen zones to explore the car’s tech like ADAS, range and connectivity features

– A dedicated area earmarked for vehicle delivery ceremonies by customers

– Real-time updates on charging and servicing options with partners like RoadGrid and myTVS

This showroom will also serve as the training centre for VinFast employees and technicians in Southern India.

Upcoming Cars: VF 6 and VF 7

Soon, the Chennai showroom will display two exciting EVs:

– Type: Compact electric SUV

– Range: ~400 km (WLTP)

– Power: Up to 172 bhp

– Expected Price: ₹25–30 lakh

– Launch: End of August 2025

VinFast VF 7

– Type: Mid-size electric SUV (AWD option)

– Range: ~500 km (WLTP)

– Power: Up to 344 bhp

– Expected Price: ₹35–40 lakh

– Launch: End of August 2025

Bookings started from July 15 with a fully refundable token of ₹21,000.

Full Ecosystem – Not Just a Car.

VinFast is bringing in strong partners to make owning an EV easier:

– RoadGrid: High-speed charging stations in cities and highways

– myTVS: Vehicle servicing at multi-brand garages

– Global Assure: 24×7 roadside assistance

– BatX Energies: Battery recycling and second-life solutions

These services will be integrated at every VinFast showroom, including Chennai.

Manufacturing Plans: India to Become a Hub

VinFast is also setting up a massive EV factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, with construction starting this month. This plant aims to produce up to 150,000 EVs annually, with an initial investment of ₹4,100 crore ($500 million).

The fact to know, VinFast has already received orders to export the vehicles from Sri Lanka, Nepal and Mauritius. Showing that the India plant could soon become an export hub from India.

VinFast is in talks with component makers that’s including some makers from Vietnam those are looking to shift production to India, that will enable a support to its local factory and reduce dependence on China.

What is Next?

After Chennai and Surat, VinFast plans to open showrooms in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Lucknow.

The aim is to reach 35 showrooms in 27 cities by end of 2025. Flagship experience centres will appear in Tier-1 cities, while compact showrooms will serve Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns.
